Facebook has hired the former assistant to US Senator Mike Crapo, Susan Zook, to lobby for its Libra project. Zook’s focus will be on lobbying Senate republicans. Interestingly, the development comes weeks after the Senate Banking Committee hearing over Project Libra attended by senior Facebook executive David Marcus.
A news report revealed that the company has spent more than $7.5 million on Washington lobbying this year. The company is already working with various lobbying firms such as Sternhell Group and the Cypress Group to work on Libra, as well as the law firm Davis Polk.
The social media giant had unveiled its cryptocurrency project Libra in June. Since then, it has faced a lot of heat from regulators not just in the US, but even from those in Europe and India.
Can Zook help Zuck and co. find favour with the regulators?
