The US Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has launched an investigation into derivatives giant BitMEX. According to CoinTelegraph, the US regulator suspects that BitMEX is allowing US investors to trade on its platform.
Under current laws, US investors are not allowed to trade on BitMEX or similar financial platforms. However, there are rising concerns about US traders using VPN services to circumvent the restriction.
BitMEX is already under fire after crypto influencer Nouriel Roubini alleged that the platform is used for money laundering in a report. There was also a massive showdown between Roubini and BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes during the Asia Blockchain Summit 2019.
